CALL TO WORSHIP
The Church is called to be a community of faith, entrusting itself to God even at the risk of loss.
The Church is called to be a community of hope, rejoicing in God’s promised new creation.
The Church is called to be a community of love, forgiving sin and reconciling hearts.
The Church is called to be a community of witness, proclaiming God’s transforming grace in Christ Jesus.
Let us enter this time of worship with gratitude for the faith that sustains us, and with joy in the God who calls us to live, love, and serve in the world.
*OPENING HYMN #305 (red) “Come Sing O Church in Joy”
Come sing, O church, in joy!
Come join, O church, in song!
For Christ the Lord has led us through the ages long!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey and praise the Lord!
Long years have come and gone,
And still God reigns supreme,
Empowering us to catch the vision, dream the dream!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey and praise the Lord!
Let courage be our friend,
Let wisdom be our guide,
As we in mission magnify the Crucified!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey and praise the Lord!
Come sing, O church, in joy!
Come join, O church, in song!
For Christ the Lord has triumphed o’er the ages long!
In bold accord, come celebrate the journey and praise the Lord!
The Apostles’ Creed and Banner
The Nicene Creed and Banner (on screen)
“We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made.”
HYMN: #1 (red) “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty” (vs 1 and 4)
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee.
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty!
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
The Scots Confession and Banner
“We believe, confess, and avow that the true Kirk is: first, the true preaching of the Word of God, in which God has revealed himself to us, as the writings of the prophets and apostles declare; secondly, the right administration of the sacraments of Christ Jesus, with which must be associated the Word and promise of God to seal and confirm them in our hearts; and lastly, ecclesiastical discipline uprightly ministered, as God’s Word prescribes, whereby vice is repressed and virtue nourished.”
SCRIPTURE READING:
John 15:5-12
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
The Heidelberg Catechism and Banner
Q: What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A: That I am not my own, but belong—body and soul, in life and in death—to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.
Q. What do you understand by “the communion of saints”?
A. First, that believers one and all, as members of this community, share in Christ and in all his treasures and gifts. Second, that each member should consider it a duty to use these gifts readily and joyfully for the service and enrichment of the other members.
The Second Helvetic Confession and Banner
“We believe and confess the canonical Scriptures of the holy prophets and apostles of both Testaments to be the true Word of God, and to have sufficient authority of themselves, not of men.
For God himself spoke to the fathers, prophets, apostles, and still speaks to us through the Holy Scriptures.”
HYMN: #458 (red) “Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet”
Refrain:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
When I feel afraid, and I think I’ve lost my way,
Still you’re there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear as long as you are near.
Please be near me to the end.
Refrain:
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.
The Westminster Standards and Banner
Question. “What is the Chief End of Man?”
Answer. “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and Enjoy Him Forever.”
The Barmen Declaration and Banner
HYMN: #826 (red) “Lift High the Cross” (refrain, v1, refrain, v4, refrain)
Refrain:
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
Till all the world adore his sacred name.
Come, Christians, follow where our Captain trod,
Our King victorious, Christ the Son of God. [Refrain]
Saved by this cross whereon their Lord was slain,
The heirs of Adam their lost home regain. [Refrain]

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND PETITION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Trusting in the triune God, let us confess our sins and lift our prayers to the One who redeems, restores, and reconciles.
Holy God, we acknowledge that we fall short of your calling. We fail to love as you command, to seek justice as you show, and to witness boldly to your truth. Forgive us, renew us, and guide us.
Gracious Lord, we pray for the Church universal, that it may embody your reconciling love, live faithfully according to your Word, and proclaim the gospel in every age.
Strengthen your Church, O God, that we may act with courage, serve with humility, and witness to your justice and mercy in the world.
We pray for those in places of power, that they may lead with wisdom, integrity, and compassion, seeking the common good rather than personal gain. We pray for our communities and neighbors, especially those who are oppressed, lonely, or in need of hope. May your Spirit bring comfort, healing, and peace.
Come, Holy Spirit, and flow like living waters among us, restoring our hearts, mending brokenness, and uniting us in your love.
We also lift up those in our congregation who are sick, grieving, or in need of extra care… (silent moment for personal reflection)
Hold them close, O God, and surround them with your healing presence, peace, and hope.
We offer prayers of gratitude for those who have gone before us, whose faithfulness and courage inspire our witness today.
Thank you, God, for the saints of every time and place, who teach us to trust in your promises and live in hope.
Merciful God, hear these our prayers, spoken and unspoken, and shape us to be a people who serve, reconcile, and glorify you in all things. We pray all this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who taught his disciples to pray:
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, Amen.

*DOXOLOGY (on screen)
*CLOSING HYMN #69 (red) “Here I Am, Lord”
I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save.
I, who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?
Refrain:
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people’s pain.
I have wept for love of them. They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts of love alone.
I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send? [Refrain]
I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them. My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give my life to them. Whom shall I send? [Refrain]
