PRELUDE O Worship the King with Here I Am to Worship, arr. Anna Laura Page
WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
We gather in the name of Jesus,
to receive His grace and peace.
We come together with thankful hearts,
ready to worship and praise.
*OPENING HYMN #398 (Blue) ‘There’s a Sweet, Sweet Spirit’
1. There’s a sweet, sweet Spirit in this place,
And I know that it’s the Spirit of the Lord;
There are sweet expressions on each face,
And I know they feel the presence of the Lord.
Refrain:
Sweet Holy Spirit, Sweet heavenly Dove,
Stay right here with us,
Filling us with Your love;
And for these blessings we lift our hearts in praise.
Without a doubt we’ll know that we have been revived
When we shall leave this place.
2. There are blessings you cannot receive
Till you know Him in His fullness and believe;
You’re the one to profit when you say,
“I am going to walk with Jesus all the way.” [Refrain]
*CALL TO CONFESSION
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Christ, we come before You seeking forgiveness. When we do not give You the honor due to You, forgive us. When we fail to look to you first, forgive us. When we see hunger and thirst, loneliness and poverty, but don't see You, open our eyes, our hands and our hearts. Help us seek to be more like you and to place our trust in you and in you alone, for you are our Redeemer. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*GLORIA PATRI (on screen)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION and SCRIPTURE READING
Ephesians 1: 1-2, 15-23
1 Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To God’s holy people in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus: 2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
15I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason 16I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers.
17I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, 18so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you,
what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, 19and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power.
20God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and
seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age - but also - in the age to come.
22And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
SERMON Letters
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (from the Book of Order W-1.0102)
God acts with grace; we respond with gratitude. God claims us as beloved children; we proclaim God’s saving love. God redeems us from sin and death; we rejoice in the gift of new life. This rhythm of divine action and human response—found throughout Scripture, human history, and everyday events—shapes all of Christian faith, life, and worship.
*HYMN OF RESPONSE #552 (Blue) ‘Give Thanks, O Christian People’
1. Give thanks, O Christian people, for workers of our day
Who heed the call to service and make it their life’s way
To go to feed the hungry, to tend to those in need,
To work for equal justice, till all God’s folk are freed.
2. Give thanks, O Christian people, for leaders of our years
Who live to share with others our joy when Christ appears,
To teach the ones who seek light, to guide the faltering feet,
To lead the followers forward our living Lord to meet.
3. Give thanks, O Christian people, for all who love the Lord,
Who live each day believing in God’s eternal Word:
To share Christ’s love in living, to witness with each deed,
To use the talents given to plant the gospel seed.
4. Give thanks, O Christian people, for life in fellowship
With all who trust our Savior their serving to equip
To ease another’s burdens, to cope in joy and stress,
To magnify God’s message and Christ’s great love confess.
