CALL TO WORSHIP
We come today, not because we’ve figured everything out,
But because we want to keep learning and growing in faith.
We come with questions, with hopes, and maybe even with a few regrets.
Trusting that God meets us right where we are.
We come to listen for God’s Word — to be changed, not to judge— to follow, not to boast.
Here we are, ready to learn, ready to love, ready to worship.
*OPENING HYMN #489 (blue) “Open Now Thy Gates of Beauty”
Open now thy gates of beauty,
Zion, let me enter there,
where my soul in joyful duty
waits for God who answers prayer;
Oh, how blessed is this place,
filled with solace, light, and grace!
Gracious God, I come before Thee,
come Thou also down to me;
where we find Thee and adore Thee,
there a heaven on earth must be;
To my heart O enter Thou,
let it be Thy temple now!
Speak, O Lord, and I will hear Thee,
let Thy will be done indeed;
may I undisturbed draw near Thee
while Thou dost Thy people feed.
Here of life the fountain flows,
here is balm for all our woes.
*CALL TO CONFESSION and *PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Loving God, You have shown us how to live—with compassion, humility, and grace—but too often we forget. We use Your Word to measure others instead of letting it measure our own hearts. We cling to being right instead of being kind. We rush to judgment when You call us to understanding. Forgive us, Lord. Help us to learn from Jesus—to see with His eyes, to listen with His patience, and to love with His heart. Renew us by Your Spirit, so that our lives reflect Your mercy and truth. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION and SCRIPTURE READING
Excerpts from Psalm 119
With all my heart I seek you, Lord;
keep me close to your ways and your truth.
I’ve treasured your word deep within me,
so that I won’t lose sight of what is right.
Praise be to you, O Lord—keep teaching me your wisdom and your ways.
Be good to me, your servant so that I may live out your word each day.
Help me understand your truth so I can reflect on all the wonderful things you do.
Teach me, Lord, to walk in your ways--
not just to know them, but to follow them to the end.
Give me understanding to obey you with all my heart.
Guide my steps, for in your ways I find joy.
Turn my eyes away from what is worthless, and give me life through your word.
Let your unfailing love and your salvation come to me, Lord, as you have promised.
Your word gives me hope and strength; it is my comfort when I struggle.
You are good, and everything you do is good—keep teaching me what is right.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
When your words unfold, they bring light;
they help even the simple understand your truth.
Give me understanding so that I may truly live.
I rejoice in your promises, Lord—they are like finding treasure beyond measure.
Luke 19: 1-10
1 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”
8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”
9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
HYMN: (on screen) “Zacchaeus Was a Wee Little Man”
Zacchaeus was a wee little man, a wee little man was he.
He climbed up in a sycamore tree, for the Lord he wanted to see.
And as the Savior passed that way, He looked up in the tree;
(spoken) And he said: “Zacchaeus, you come down!
(sing) for I’m going to your house today, for I’m going to your house today.”
SERMON Zacchaeus’ Story
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostle’s Creed (on screen)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
SERVICE OF THE LORD’S SUPPER
INVITATION TO THE TABLE
COMMUNION HYMN #516 (blue) “Lord We Have Come at Your Own Invitation”
Lord, we have come at Your own invitation,
chosen by You, to be counted Your friends;
Yours is the strength that sustains dedication,
ours a commitment we know never ends.
Here, at Your table, confirm our intention,
Give it Your seal of forgiveness and grace;
teach us to serve without pride or pretension,
Lord, in Your kingdom, whatever our place.
When, at Your table, each time of returning,
vows are renewed, and our courage restored:
may we increasingly glory in learning
all that it means to accept You as Lord.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING (on screen)
The Lord be with you And also with you
Lift up your hearts We lift them to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
… And so we join our voices with all who speak your name,
to praise you with unending joy:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory!
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
…… make us one as we partake of these your gifts so we might be in communion with you and one another.
As we break bread together, may our eyes be opened to see your glory.
As we lift the cup of salvation, may we be strengthened to follow your Way.
…we pray as Jesus taught his disciples
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever, Amen.
