CALL TO WORSHIP
The voice of God claims us, calling us beloved children.
We come, drawn by the light that breaks into our darkness.
The voice of God invites us, reaching into our hesitation and fear.
We come, ready to listen, ready to follow.
The voice of God sends us, into the world, to bear light, love, and hope.
We come, trusting God’s Spirit to guide our steps.
Come, let us worship the God who claims, invites, and sends.
Here I am, Lord, send me.
*OPENING HYMN #477 (blue) “Ye Servants of God, Your Master Proclaim”
Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim,
And publish abroad His wonderful name;
The name all-victorious of Jesus extol;
His kingdom is glorious, He rules over all.
God ruleth on high, almighty to save;
And still He is nigh--His presence we have;
The great congregation His triumph shall sing,
Ascribing salvation to Jesus our King.
"Salvation to God, who sits on the throne,"
Let all cry aloud, and honor the Son;
The praises of Jesus the angels proclaim,
Fall down on their faces, and worship the Lamb.
Then let us adore, and give Him His right,
All glory and power, all wisdom and might,
All honor and blessing, with angels above,
And thanks never ceasing, and infinite love.
*CALL TO CONFESSION and *PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Loving God, we confess that we often hear your call but hesitate to follow. We cling to comfort, to familiar routines, and to what feels safe, even as you invite us into new places, new relationships, and new work for your kingdom. Forgive us for the times we ignore your voice, for the times we doubt your guidance, and for the times we fail to trust that you go with us. Turn our hearts toward you, O God, and open our ears to hear your voice clearly: claiming, inviting, sending, so that we may live as your faithful people. Amen
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*GLORIA PATRI (on screen)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
And ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, Amen.
SPECIAL MUSIC: “Shout to the Lord” Choir
My Jesus my Saviour, Lord, there is none like You
All of my days I want to praise the wonders of Your mighty love
My comfort my shelter, tower of refuge and strength
Let every breath all that I am never cease to worship You
Chorus:
Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing
Power and majesty praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands
Forever I'll love You forever I'll stand
Nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
CHILDREN’S TIME
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION and SCRIPTURE READING
Psalm 121 (responsive)
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains--
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip--
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The Lord watches over you--
the Lord is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The Lord will keep you from all harm--
he will watch over your life;
8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
1 Corinthians 1:10 and 17
10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
Matthew 4:18-23
18 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 20 At once they left their nets and followed him.
21 Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22 and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.
23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Matthew 28:18–20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
SERMON The Voice of God Sends Us Out
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (From the Brief Statement of Faith)
In a broken and fearful world the Spirit gives us courage to pray without ceasing, to witness among all peoples to Christ as Lord and Savior, to unmask idolatries in Church and culture, to hear the voices of peoples long silenced, and to work with others for justice, freedom, and peace. In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God’s new heaven and new earth, praying, “Come, Lord Jesus!”
*HYMN OF RESPONSE #426 (blue) “Lord Speak to Me that I May Speak”
Lord, speak to me that I may speak
In living echoes of your tone;
As Thou hast sought, so let me seek
Thine erring children lost and lone.
O lead me, Lord, that I may lead
The wandering and the wavering feet;
O feed me, Lord, that I may feed
Thy hungering ones with manna sweet.
O teach me, Lord, that I may teach
The precious things Thou dost impart;
And wing my words, that they may reach
The hidden depths of many a heart.
O fill me with Thy fullness, Lord,
Until my very heart o’erflow
In kindling thought and glowing word,
Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.
O use me, Lord, use even me,
Just as Thou wilt, and when, and where;
Until Thy blessed face I see,
Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share.
