With joy and delight, we gather to praise our Holy God.
With reverence and awe, we approach our Gracious God.
We come to worship a God who understands us.
We come to worship a God who lives in us.
Glory to God! Amen!
*OPENING HYMN #478 (blue) “Praise, My Soul, the King of Heaven”
Praise, my soul, the King of heaven; to His feet thy tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven, evermore His praises sing:
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Praise the everlasting King!
Praise Him for His grace and favor to His people in distress;
Praise Him, still the same as ever, slow to chide, and swift to bless:
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Glorious in His faithfulness!
Father-like He tends and spares us; well our feeble frame He knows.
In His hand He gently bears us, rescues us from all our foes.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Widely yet His mercy flows.
Angels, help us to adore Him; Ye behold Him face to face;
Sun and moon, bow down before Him, dwellers all in time and space.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Praise with us the God of grace.
*CALL TO CONFESSION
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
O loving God, you never give up on those who love you and do what you say. Yet we confess that we have sinned in every way imaginable. From doing wrong to failing to do right. We listen to the wrong people and fail to put our trust in you. Your compassion is our only hope. Turn your eyes upon us, your people. Forgive us, teach us, and guide us back to the path you have set for us. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*GLORIA PATRI (on screen)

SCRIPTURE READING
Jeremiah 17:5-8
5Thus says the LORD: Cursed are those who trust in mere mortals and make mere flesh their strength, whose hearts turn away from the LORD. 6They shall be like a shrub in the desert, and shall not see when relief comes. They shall live in the parched places of the wilderness, in an uninhabited salt land. 7Blessed are those who trust in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.
8They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit.
Psalm 1:1-3
1Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,
or take the path that sinners tread, or sit in the seat of scoffers;
2but their delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law they meditate day and night.
3They are like trees planted by streams of water,
which yield their fruit in its season,
and their leaves do not wither.
In all that they do, they prosper.
SERMON “Who are You Listening To?” Donna Flint
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH – - APOSTLES’ CREED (Modern Version)
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
HYMN OF RESPONSE #282 (blue) “If Thou but Trust in God to Guide Thee”
If thou but trust in God to guide thee with hopeful heart through all thy ways,
God will give strength, whate’er betide thee, to bear thee through the evil days.
Who trusts in God's unchanging love builds on the rock that nought can move.
Only be still, and wait God’s leisure in cheerful hope with heart content
to take whate’er thy Keeper’s pleasure and all discerning love hath sent.
No doubt our inmost wants are clear to One who holds us always dear.
Sing, pray, and swerve not from God’s ways, but do thine own part faithfully;
trust the rich promises of grace, so shall they be fulfilled in thee.
God never yet forsook at need the soul secured by trust indeed.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. OFFERING OF OURSELVES AND OUR RESOURCES
*DOXOLOGY
Praise God from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen
*CLOSING HYMN #426 (blue) “Lord, Speak to Me, that I May Speak”
Lord, speak to me, that I may speak
in living echoes of Thy tone;
as Thou hast sought, so let me seek
Thine erring children lost and lone.
Oh, lead me, Lord, that I may lead
the wandering and the wavering feet;
oh, feed me, Lord, that I may feed
Thy hungering ones with manna sweet.
Oh, teach me, Lord, that I may teach
the precious things Thou dost impart,
and wing my words, that they may reach
the hidden depths of many a heart.
Oh, fill me with Thy fullness, Lord,
until my very heart o’erflow
in kindling thought and glowing word,
Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.
Oh, use me, Lord, use even me,
just as Thou wilt, and when, and where;
until Thy blessed face I see,
Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glory share.
