CALL TO WORSHIP
The earth is the Lord’s, and all that is in it.
The world, and all who live in it.
God calls us to care for creation and one another.
The Spirit shapes us to notice and respond.
Come, let us learn to live with glad and generous hearts
and worship together as God’s people in the world.
*OPENING HYMN #714 (red) “God of the Fertile Fields”
God of the fertile fields, shaper of earth that yields
our daily bread:
forth from your bounteous hand come gifts your love has planned,
that all in every land be clothed and fed.
We would be stewards true, holding in trust from you
all that you give;
help us in love to share, teach us like you to care
for people everywhere, that all may live.
As grows the hidden seed to fruit that serves our need,
so your reign grows.
Let all our toil be used, no gift of yours abused,
no humble task refused your love bestows.
God of the countryside, dear to the Christ who died
to make us one:
we pledge our lives anew in faithful love to you.
Guide all we say and do. Your will be done.
*CALL TO CONFESSION and *PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Gracious God, you call us to a life that is generous, attentive, and open, yet we confess that we often turn away. We hesitate when we could respond and assume there will always be another time. Forgive us for choosing comfort over compassion and caution over love. Open our eyes to those around us. Soften our guarded hearts, and give us courage to act, even in small ways, trusting your Spirit is at work through us. Shape us into a community that reflects your grace, not only in what we say, but in what we do. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*GLORIA PATRI (on screen)
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
And ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION and SCRIPTURE READING
A collection of Psalms for Earth Day
The earth is the Lord’s, and all that is in it,
the world, and those who live in it. (Psalm 24:1)
The heavens are telling the glory of God;
and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. (Psalm 19:1)
You make springs gush forth in the valleys;
you give drink to every wild animal. (Psalm 104:10–11)
The Lord is good to all,
and his compassion is over all that he has made. (Psalm 145:9)
Happy are those who consider the poor;
the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble. (Psalm 41:1)
Give justice to the weak and the orphan;
maintain the right of the lowly and the destitute. (Psalm 82:3)
The Lord watches over the stranger;
he upholds the orphan and the widow. (Psalm 146:9)
Let everything that breathes praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord! (Psalm 150:6)
Acts 2:42–47
42They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
43Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles.
44All who believed were together and had all things in common;
45they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need.
46Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, 47praising God and having the goodwill of all the people.
And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.
SERMON This is What it Looks Like
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
We believe in God, Creator of all things, who makes and sustains the earth, the seas, and all living creatures, and who calls creation good. We believe in Jesus Christ, through whom all things were made, who reconciles all things to God and teaches us to love what God has made. We believe in the Holy Spirit, who gives life to the world, renews the earth, and moves us to care for one another and for creation. We belong to God, and are called to be faithful stewards of the earth, seeking justice, mercy, and the healing of all God has made. Amen.
*HYMN OF RESPONSE #738 (red) ”O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee”
O Master, let me walk with thee
in lowly paths of service free;
tell me thy secret; help me bear
the strain of toil, the fret of care.
Help me the slow of heart to move
by some clear, winning word of love;
teach me the wayward feet to stay,
and guide them in the homeward way.
Teach me thy patience; still with thee
in closer, dearer company,
in work that keeps faith sweet and strong,
in trust that triumphs over wrong:
In hope that sends a shining ray
far down the future's broadening way;
in peace that only thou canst give,
with thee, O Master, let me live.
