CALL TO WORSHIP
Welcome, friends! Look around—God’s creation is all around us, and it’s beautiful!
From the trees to the sky to the birds singing, we see God’s glory everywhere.
So take a deep breath, open your hearts, and let’s worship our God who made it all!
*OPENING HYMN “For the Beauty of the Earth”
For the beauty of the earth, for the glory of the skies,
for the love which from our birth, over and around us lies;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
For the beauty of each hour, of the day and of the night,
hill and vale, and tree and flower, sun and moon, and stars of light;
Lord of all, to thee we raise this our hymn of grateful praise.
For the joy of human love, brother, sister, parent, child,
friends on earth and friends above, for all gentle thoughts and mild;
Lord of all, to thee we raise, this our hymn of grateful praise.
*CALL TO CONFESSION and *PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God, we come to You here in this beautiful place, surrounded by trees, sky, birds, and the gentle breeze. And yet, we confess that we don’t always notice Your presence or Your handiwork in our daily lives. Forgive us for the times we overlook the beauty around us, for the ways we take Your creation for granted, and for the ways we fail to care for the world You have entrusted to us. Renew our hearts, Lord. Open our eyes to Your wonders, teach us to walk gently in Your world, and fill us with gratitude for all that You have made. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now,
And ever shall be,
World without end. Amen, Amen.
CHILDREN’S SERMON
Fruit of the spirit:
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION and SCRIPTURE READING
2 Timothy 3:14-17
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and found to be true, because you know from whom you learned it. 15 From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to give you the wisdom you need for salvation through faith in the Messiah Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good action.
SERMON Putting Words Into God’s Mouth
*AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (John 3:16-17)
I believe that God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
*HYMN OF RESPONSE “Standing on the Promises”
Standing on the promises of Christ, my King!
Through eternal ages let His praises ring.
"Glory in the highest!" I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain:
Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God, my Savior;
standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail!
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
list'ning ev'ry moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]

when life’s perils thick confound you,
