Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; God’s faithfulness continues through all generations. *HYMN #551 “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come” *PRAYER OF CONFESSION Praise to your name, O Gracious Heavenly Father, for you have remained faithful in every generation! Glory and honor is yours for the mighty deliverance you have given to those who commit their ways to you. With the gift of your Son, you have opened the blessings of eternity to all who will believe. Accept us as those who believe, forgiving our sins and changing our lives. Cleanse us of unrighteousness, that we may join the chorus which forever sings your praises. Hear our prayer in Christ’s name. Amen. *WORDS OF ASSURANCE Leader: We receive our assurance through Jesus Christ our Lord, People: “We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tested as we are, with this difference: He remained sinless.” (Hebrews 4:15) Leader: So we can be assured of forgiveness through Christ’s cross and everlasting life in his name. Great is God’s forgiveness through Jesus Christ! People: “The blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purifies our consciences from dead works to worship the Living God.” (Hebrews 9:14) Leader: Jesus Christ gave himself for us and rose again from the dead. Thanks be to God who gives us the victory! People: “In Christ the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things by making peace through the blood of his cross.” (Colossians 1:19-20) *GLORIA PATRI #579 TIME FOR CHILDREN PRAYER AND THE LORD’S PRAYER CHOIR ANTEHM “Sometimes a light Surprises” Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while he sings; it is the Lord who rises with healing in His wings: when comforts are declining , He grants the soul again a season of clear shining, to cheer it after rain. In holy contemplation we sweetly then pursue the theme of God's salvation, and find it ever new. Set free from present sorrow, we cheerfully can say, let the unknown tomorrow bring with it what it may, It can bring with it nothing, but He will bear us through: Who gives the lilies clothing will clothe his people, too: Beneath the spreading heavens no creature but is fed; and He who feeds the ravens will give his children bread. Though vine nor fig tree neither their wonted fruit should bear, though all the fields should wither, nor flocks nor herds be there; yet, God the same abiding, His praise shall tune my voice; for, while in Him confiding, I cannot but rejoice. Amen.
