Leader: The second candle is the candle of PEACE. Peace is the gift of God, the assurance that we are right with him.
All: It was of peace the angels sang as their great light filled the heavens and the shepherds learned of the Christmas gift of God in Jesus Christ.
Leader: Jesus told us that the peace he gives us is a peace which can be found in no other place, from no other one. It is wholeness, health, life itself.
All: Jesus Christ is our Peace: Peace on earth, God now come to earth, good will to those with whom he is pleased. God, make us peaceful. Amen.
ADVENT CANDLE LIGHTING

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
God of peace, who sent light into the world in the coming of Jesus Christ: We confess that we have not followed the light given to us. We have not searched for signs of your love, or trusted the goodness of your good news. In your mercy forgive what we have been, help us amend what we are, and direct what we shall be, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Through Christ, our Lord, Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. We’d love to display your poinsettia throughout Advent. If you need someone from the church to pick up your purchased plant from a local florist or store, please call the church office. You can also drop off your poinsettia during office hours. And, as always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the church office.
Poinsettias are beautiful flowers and are known as the Flowers of the Holy Night. The shape of the poinsettia flower and leaves are sometimes thought of as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which led the Wise Men to Jesus. The red colored leaves symbolize the blood of Christ. The white leaves represent his purity.
