CHORAL INTROIT “Surely the Presence of the Lord”
*CALL TO WORSHIP Robby Flint
Leader: With what shall we come before the Lord?
All: Shall we bring burnt offerings or calves a year old?
Leader: Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams?
All: Or ten thousand rivers of oil?
Leader: Mortals, God has shown us what is good. What does the Lord require?
All: To do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God.
* HYMN #298 “There’s Wideness in God’s Mercy”
CALL TO CONFESSION Rev. Kaul
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Surprising God, You have made foolish the wisdom of the world, teaching that the meek shall inherit the earth and heaven belongs to those who suffer for the sake of justice. But we cling to the values of this world, things that enhance our status but cheat our souls. We seek comfort in simple answers and easy outs. We disregard the marginalized and mock weakness, forgetting that Christ lifted up the lowly and made a home among the vulnerable. God of blessing, reorient our hearts, and renew our minds, so that we might act with justice, practice kindness, and—in all things—walk humbly with you. (Time for silent reflection)

PSALM 15
(in unison)
1 O Lord, who may abide in your tent?
Who may dwell on your holy hill?
2 Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,
and speak the truth from their heart;
3 who do not slander with their tongue,
and do no evil to their friends,
nor take up a reproach against their neighbors;
4 in whose eyes the wicked are despised,
but who honor those who fear the Lord;
who stand by their oath even to their hurt;
5 who do not lend money at interest,
and do not take a bribe against the innocent.
Those who do these things shall never be moved.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
(in unison)
We give you thanks, Lord Jesus Christ, for the gifts of grace we have received from your hand. Now send us forth to reflect your light, proclaiming your saving death and resurrection until you come again in glory. Amen.
