All: Let us worship the one, true God.

CALL TO CONFESSION Rev. Kaul
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, you call us to worship and to serve only you. Yet, when other things demand our attention, we stray from the path Jesus tread. We serve powers that privilege the comfort of some over the well-being of many. We serve a culture that values competition over collaboration. We serve our own desires without considering the needs of our neighbors. Forgive us, Lord. Send your Spirit to guide us back to you. Free us from the clutches of sin and death and draw us close, that we might respond to the grace we know in Christ and follow the ways of justice and righteousness.

LENTEN CANDLES PRAYER
Leader: We extinguish this candle as a symbol of our hope in Jesus Christ, whose dying offers us eternal life.
Lord Jesus, you taught us by your death that when a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains a single grain. But if it lives, it will yield a rich harvest. Help us to not condemn ourselves or others for past failures and sins, but to die to ourselves and to rise again, to follow you. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Thank you, gracious God, for giving us bread for the journey of these forty days. As we travel on through the wilderness, help us to share your grace with others and draw us ever closer to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
All are invited to the Lenten Soup Potluck in the Fellowship Hall following worship service.
