*CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: We thought You were dead. We thought the cross was the end. We thought that when the stone covered the tomb, that was it. But now, everything is changed.
All: The cross is empty and the stone is rolled away. Alleluia! Jesus is risen!
Leader: We thought You had said Your final word. We thought those with the power had won. We thought that when You cried out, that was it.
All: But Your final cry was only the beginning.
Leader: We thought the story was finished. We thought that hope had ended.
All: But now, everything has changed. The story has just begun and hope is renewed. Alleluia! Jesus is risen!
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Merciful Father, as we celebrate the resurrection of Christ this Easter day, we are reminded that we could so easily be counted among the doubters hiding in the shadow cast by that cruel cross. We are like Peter, and openly deny You and Your call to do Your work, even as we long for Your presence. There are times, Lord, when we doubt, when sin seems like a barrier that separates us from You and we just don’t have the strength to break it down. How can we forget that it is You who had the strength to roll away the stone and reveal the empty tomb? It was Christ who broke that barrier so we will never again be separated from you. Remind us daily that Christ has died for us, and risen for us. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Friends, believe this good and real news. Christ is Risen! The stone is rolled away, the tomb found empty. God forgives; accept your forgiveness and live as His people.
All: Alleluia! Amen.
