WELCOME and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP  (from Psalm 138)
We gather today to give thanks with our whole heart;
             We gather to sing God’s praise
Here in God’s holy temple, we exalt God’s name and God’s word
           We recognize God’s steadfast love and faithfulness;
When we call, God answers
          Let us worship the God who strengthens our soul

*OPENING HYMN  #288 (Blue)  I Sing the Mighty Power of God

*CALL TO CONFESSION and *PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord, forgive us for saying that you are not enough. Though you give us all that we need, we are not satisfied. We take all that you give, but we shun all that you are. Like the people of Israel who requested an earthly king to be your replacement, we ask for others to lead us. We allow our culture to nourish us, our politicians to govern us, and our currency to comfort us. We have rejected you and for that we humble our hearts before you in repentance. Forgive us for not recognizing you for who you are, not only the giver of all good gifts, but goodness itself, deserving of our worship and allegiance.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
