Palm Sunday Morning Prayer for Zoom Meeting
4.5.2020 Year A
10:30 am
Informal Welcome/Instructions
Opening Sentences:
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth shall proclaim your praise. The Lord's unfailing love and mercy never cease, fresh as the morning and sure as the sunrise. (Lam. 3:22-23)
Holy Holy Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!
Morning Psalm: (Ps. 15, pg. 622 BCW)
Lord, who may dwell in your tabernacle? Who may abide upon your holy hill?
Those who lead a blameless life and do what is right, who speak the truth from their heart.
There is no guile upon their tongue; they do no evil to their friend, they do not heap contempt upon their neighbor.
In their sight the wicked are rejected, but they honor those who fear the Lord.
They have sworn to do no wrong and do not take back their word.
They do not give their money in hope of gain, nor do they take a bribe against the innocent.
Those who do these things shall never be overthrown.
God of love, you adopted us as your children. Grant that we may pass through this world with such integrity that no one will have just complaint against us. At the end, may we inherit what has been prepared for us in Heaven. Amen.
Scripture Reading: Matt. 21:1-11
Jesus' Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem
1 When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, 'Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, just say this, "The Lord needs them." And he will send them immediately.' 4 This took place to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 'Tell the daughter of Zion,
Look, your king is coming to you,
humble, and mounted on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.'
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; 7 they brought the donkey and the colt, and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,
'Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!'
10 When he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil, asking, 'Who is this?' 11 The crowds were saying, 'This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.' http://bible.oremus.org/

Canticle: Of Zechariah- Luke 1:68-79
Luke 1:68-79
68 'Blessed be the Lord God of Israel,
for he has looked favourably on his people and redeemed them.
69 He has raised up a mighty saviour for us
in the house of his servant David,
70 as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old,
71 that we would be saved from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us.
72 Thus he has shown the mercy promised to our ancestors,
and has remembered his holy covenant,
73 the oath that he swore to our ancestor Abraham,
to grant us 74 that we, being rescued from the hands of our enemies,
might serve him without fear, 75 in holiness and righteousness
before him all our days.
76 And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,
77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people
by the forgiveness of their sins.
78 By the tender mercy of our God,
the dawn from on high will break upon us,
79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.' .' http://bible.oremus.org/
